The Fulbright Program is a foreign exchange scholarship program of the United States, aimed at increasing binational research collaboration, cultural understanding and the exchange of ideas. Born in the aftermath of WWII, the program has grown to become to the largest educational exchange scholarship program in the world, with operation in over 160 countries. Over the last 70 years Fulbright has awarded more than 370,000 students, academics and professionals scholarships to study, teach or conduct research.

The Fulbright Commission has invited Royal Flying Doctor Service clinicians to submit applications for the 2021 round of Fulbright Scholarships for study or research in the United States in late 2021/2022. These prestigious awards provide funding for U.S. Master’s programs (up to 2 years), PhD research (4 to 10 months), or Postdoctoral research (4 to 10 months) at any U.S. institution and in any academic or creative field.  Also on offer this year are the Fulbright Future Scholarships which can fund all of the above, as well as full Doctoral programs (up to 5 years), and include full tuition allowance. These comprehensive awards are available to applicants who propose programs with potential for profound and tangible impact.
