Project Officer for New Guideline

Working with Aboriginal and / or Torres Strait Islander people

Speech Pathology Australia seeks to appoint a Project Officer(s) to lead the development of a new practice document to support members to provide culturally safe services to Aboriginal and / or Torres Strait Islander people and communities. We are seeking an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander person to fill this position.

We are seeking expressions of interest for the role of Project Officer to lead the development of the document. The development of the document will be undertaken in consultation with the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Advisory Committee and a working group.

The new document will provide guidance to speech pathologists on providing culturally safe services when working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and communities. The document may also be referenced by management or consumers, with the intent to inform, guide and monitor speech pathology practice at an individual and organisational level.

The Project Officer will receive an honorarium payment of $7,500

The Project Officer will have regular contact with the Manager, Professional Standards in relation to the development of the document and its project plan.

The Project Officer will liaise with stakeholders from a broad range of sectors to inform the development of the practice document and to ensure it reflects evidence-based practice principles and the Australian context.

The written EOI should include the following:

· Curriculum Vitae

· Experience in working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples

· Clinical experience

· The names and details of two referees

· Details of the applicant’s experience with writing professional documents and/or reference lists
