Most allied health professions have a professional association that are the national peak bodies in their profession who provide support such as, but not limited to, strategic leadership, advocacy, education, accreditation/registration and professional development.
IAHA works closely with professional associations in building positive working relationships and partnerships to assist us in meeting our core objectives outlined in the IAHA Strategic Plan 2012-2017.
In working with professional associations IAHA can provide strategic direction on Indigenous health, provide advice on cultural competence and be an advocate for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander professionals on workforce issues, career development, scholarships, specific project initiatives and encourage strategies to improving access to allied health services for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
Allied health professional associations will provide additional information on the requirements for their given profession and the support and initiatives they provide.
