IAHA Attends Launch of National Palliative Care Week
Donna Murray (CEO) and Kylie Stothers (Workforce Development Officer) attended the launch of National Palliative Care Week (22-28 May). The theme for this year is Living Well – with Chronic Illness.
National Palliative Care Week is an annual awareness raising week organised by Palliative Care Australia. This year’s theme is about raising awareness for the need for people with advanced chronic illness to be able to access palliative care.
People with chronic illnesses often have more than one chronic illness which affects their health in different ways. Early access to palliative care can help them have a better quality of life.
It is important for our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and families to have discussions around palliative care issues and to also have the opportunities to have choice and access to services that provide culturally safe and responsive care in our health and wellbeing needs.
