Workforce Development highlights from Gabe and Kylie during Career’s Week
IAHA’s first visit to the NPA region!
IAHA had the wonderful opportunity of being invited to the careers fair at Northern Peninsula Area State College (NPASC) to connect with an inspiring group of young people.
IAHA staff Kylie and Gabe showcased the exciting pathways available in allied health and to spark interest in the wide range of rewarding careers in this growing field. It was fantastic to see so much curiosity, enthusiasm, and thoughtful questions from students who are considering their future paths.
Working with young people to share the possibilities in allied health is always a highlight – NPASC students are the future of compassionate, community-focused healthcare.
A big thank you to the staff and students of NPASC for the warm welcome and engaging conversations. Looking forward to more visits and collaborations in the future!
Building Futures, Together!
IAHA were proud to host a stall at the Tagai State College Annual Careers Fair – strengthening partnerships with local industry and supporting meaningful workforce training pathways for young people.
IAHA Deputy CEO Kylie Stothers and IAHA staff Gabriel Oth facilitated an interactive stall, giving Tagai College students from Years 8-12 a hands-on experience with real-world activities that showcase exciting careers in health and community services. From OT to Speech therapy – it’s all about building aspirations .
Throughout the week the IAHA team got to meet with JCU Murtupuni Centre for Rural and remote health (Ngulaigau Mudh campus) catching up with local IAHA member Jena Stephen sharing an insight of her role in providing cultural and clinical supervision to university students. We also met with Torres Health CEO Renee Williams and SEWB Program manager Thomas Fujii.
These relationships are key to building strong, local employment opportunities and creating pathways for young people to explore, learn, and thrive.
