The 20-tips poster will be also be printed in the 20 May edition of the Koori Mail.

Gayaa Dhuwi (Proud Spirit) Australia, the new national Indigenous wellbeing, mental health and suicide prevention leadership body, today launched five free posters for Indigenous Australians containing 20 tips for staying healthy and strong during the coronavirus outbreak. CEO Mr Tom Brideson said today:

These five posters are based on the 20 tips Gayaa Dhuwi (Proud Spirit) Australia published on our website in April but presented as posters to be put up in homes, health services and anywhere else they might be of help. They are designed to appeal to wide cross section of Indigenous audiences – remote and urban, and young and old alike. Each of the numbered tips corresponds to those on the website, so people can get more information about any given area if they want it.

Gayaa Dhuwi (Proud Spirit) Australia welcome the easing of social isolation restrictions underway, however, we urge Indigenous Australians and their allies to remain vigilant about maintaining social distancing over the coming months to avoid a ‘second wave’ of the virus – including by taking special care around our Elders and those with existing health problems. And there will be more wellbeing support resources published by Gayaa Dhuwi (Proud Spirit) Australia over the coming months to meet the continuing challenges associated with the virus.

I thank the Commonwealth for acknowledging the particular coronavirus -related wellbeing and mental

health support needs of our peoples, and for backing Gayaa Dhuwi (Proud Spirit) Australia to help meet those needs.
